Explore Boulder at your own pace with a 7-hour pedal-assist eBike rental from JD’s Joyrides. Ride Boulder’s bike paths, cruise along Boulder Creek, explore downtown, take in views of the Flatirons, stop for lunch, and see more of the city without rushing. Full-day rentals are $95 per rider and include a pedal-assist eBike, helmet, bottled water, and a Boulder bike map.

Why take this tour?

I love to show off the Boulder that I know and love, but if you prefer to explore the area on your own, we do rentals too.

A full-day rental gives you 7 hours to explore without rushing. Cruise the Boulder Creek Path, ride through downtown, visit CU Boulder, stop for coffee or lunch, and follow whichever route looks interesting.

You don’t need previous eBike experience. If you’re comfortable riding a bicycle, we’ll show you how the pedal assist works and help you choose a route before you head out.

Full-day rentals are ideal for visitors who want to see more of Boulder, locals showing friends or family around, couples, families, and small groups.

Prefer a shorter ride? Our half-day eBike rental gives you 4 hours for $70.

Our main rental bikes are the Rad City and/or Rad City Step-Thru Commuter Bikes from RadPower Bikes. We also have a RadWagon utility bike (w/kid caboose) available as well. These bikes feature pedal-assist, so whenever you turn the cranks, the bike's going to help you. Whether it's a little or a lot is for you to decide, but you should pretty quickly discover the incredible fun in riding these amazing machines.

Boulder has miles of bike paths and bike-friendly routes. Depending on your interests and riding pace, you can explore Boulder Creek Path, downtown Boulder, CU Boulder, local parks, neighborhoods, and areas with views of the Flatirons. We can help you choose a route before you ride.
No previous eBike experience is required. You should already be comfortable riding a bicycle. We’ll show you how the pedal-assist system works before you leave.
Yes. Our eBikes are pedal-assist bikes, which means the electric motor provides assistance while you pedal.
Yes. A bike helmet is included with every rental.
Yes. You can reserve multiple eBikes for couples, families, friends, and small groups, subject to availability.
Same-day bookings depend on bike availability and our booking cutoff time. Check current availability online or contact JD’s Joyrides.
Choose the 4-hour half-day rental for $70 if you want a shorter morning or afternoon ride. Choose the 7-hour full-day rental for $95 if you want more time to explore Boulder, stop for lunch, and ride at a relaxed pace.

Rider requirements

- The minimum rider age is 12 years. (12-17 must be accompanied by parent or adult guardian; we reserve the right to request age verification) - Our minimum height requirement is 5'0". - Our maximum height allowance is 6'6". - Our maximum weight capacity is 275 lbs. CUTOFF TIME FOR RENTAL PICKUPS

We are not a storefront and our location is generally staffed only to meet riders with reservations. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your rental pickup and do not make an effort to contact us, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation without refund. If you are running late for your rental pickup, please contact us ASAP. We're generally very good at adapting to your needs but we do require advance notice.

Things to Bring

Not necessarily required, but strongly recommended: •camera •sunglasses •sunscreen •bike helmet (we'll provide if you don't have one) •water bottle (we'll provide if you don't have one) •rain/cold weather gear (check the forecast before you come and keep in mind that you'll be traveling at speeds of 15 mph or more and Colorado weather can change quickly. Wind chill is a real thing! We recommend dressing in layers.)

Cancellation Policy

Reservations are confirmed once payment is received. - A full refund will be issued on cancellations received 48 hours or more before scheduled tour/rental start time. - A refund less 25% will be issued on cancellations made 24-48 hours in advance of your scheduled reservation. - No refunds will be issued on reservations canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled starting time. - If you fail to show up for your reserved tour/rental and do not contact us ahead of time, no refund will be issued.

Weather Policy

Weather conditions can change rapidly in Boulder and safety is our highest priority. If the weather is inclement and not conducive to a safe and pleasant tour, JD's Joyrides will cancel the tour and riders can reschedule for another day or receive a full refund. Weather cancellations are subject to the sole discretion of JD's Joyrides.

ETC

- We do NOT have restrooms! We can stop along the way as needed. - The bikes have racks to which we can attach your pack, jacket, etc. Your guide will also have some (but not unlimited) carrying capacity for extra bags/jackets/gear. If you're not sure, bring it!
