Founder and Chief Joyrider Joel Davis has spent 30+ years exploring Boulder by bike and was inspired to launch the business during the Covid pandemic as a way of bringing people together during a time of deep isolation. The pandemic is over (more or less), but JD’s Joyrides remains dedicated to bringing people together, taking a less-is-more approach to deliver an authentic, personal, unique and fun experience that showcases Boulder’s beauty and spreads the joy, wellbeing and sense of freedom eBiking provides. Mission
JD’s Joyrides is more than an eBike tour company: we are a connection company. With the simple act of saying hello and riding bikes together, we create community. We make friends (of all shapes, sizes, faiths, races and genders). We gain new perspectives and a better understanding of our environment. We experience the pleasure of moving our bodies, and the joy of doing so by eBike. We see more clearly the blurred line between art and nature. We begin to notice the beauty that surrounds us all of the time. By saying hello and riding bikes together, we make the world a better place.

Story
In Feb ’19, I bought a Radwagon eBike. It has changed my life. I average 3k miles per year, got rid of a car (and 30 pounds) and became an unabashed evangelizer of the benefits these bikes bring: a true sense of freedom and a reconnection with my inner child and the environment around me. I ride year round with no thought to distance (other than what the battery allows) or conditions (as long as it's not icy). I love Boulder, I love art, I love these bikes and I love sharing that love with others. Let's ride bikes!

I’ve done both the Mural Tour and the Hidden Trails Tour with Joel. Both tours are ridiculously fun and beautiful, but as a guide Joel stands out! He covers the bases of safety on the road and trail, is attentive, informative and a has an acuity for needs of different levels of riders, keeping everyone engaged and happy. Wow! I expected a good tour and ride, but it was BEYOND great! JD accommodated last minute additions and logistics with aplomb, and then led our merry group of mixed ages and abilities on a JOYFUL, delightful and informative tour. He knew the best routes, where the best views and least traffic were, and also had just the right amount of guidance. The ebikes were all in good condition and comfortable even for novices. If you are coming to town and want a great activity to get the vibe of town or some fresh air or have visitors coming to town, you really can’t go wrong choosing JD’s Joyrides. We did a GREAT tour with Joel yesterday and we highly recommend JDs Joyrides for anyone looking to have a fun Boulder experience! We rode for about 2.5 hours, covering just under 20 miles, with multiple stops along the way where Joel provided interesting facts and details about the area. We opted for one of his newer trail options and he has several to choose from, depending on what you would like to see. We contacted JD's Joyrides at the last minute - early on a Monday morning, wanting to ride that day. Joel was amazing - responsive, informative and friendly! Once we arrived at the bike shack we met Niko who had our bikes all set to go. He explained everything we could possibly need to know to best ride an e-bike. He asked what kind of day (ride) we were looking for, and then offered up a variety of different routes we could take while referencing an easy to read map. Finally - he hopped on his bike and he led us to the entrance of Boulder Creek Path. My sister and I had an extraordinary day biking Boulder Creek Path up into the Boulder Canyon where we had lunch on a boulder sitting at the water's edge. We then biked out to Wonderland Lake for a beautiful view of the FlatIrons! We had the bikes for 4 hours and it was literally a PERFECT day! My background is in customer service which makes me quick to notice where improvements can be made...but also quick to notice when I'm receiving good service. Both Joel & Niko provided exceptional customer service and exceeded my expectations. I will 100% rent from them again (until I bite the bullet and purchase my own e-bike) and would recommend them to anyone living nearby or in town for a visit!

Fantastic experience! Decided totally last minute we wanted to ebike as a family of 5 and no one could help us. Joel immediately called me back and said he’d take care of us. We loved our ride with JD around Boulder! JD was so patient with us since we had all different skill levels with the electric bikes. Most of the ride was paved. We rented bikes, no tour. 5 stars all around. Well-kept bikes with phone holders & bags. 3 hours uphill barely dented the battery life. So easy & pleasant to coordinate with JD- we even changed the number of bikes & the arrival time and there was no stress whatsoever. Niko met us upon arrival and truly made sure we were fully set up to go- he even rode our group to a nearby restaurant for a restroom & and gave us excellent directions for our own tour. Return was a snap & the car is right there. Will absolutely rent here again when we return to Boulder.

JD’s Joyrides EBike Tour was a blast! We did the 360 tour and there were riders of varying abilities so YOU CAN (and should) DO THIS!!! Joel creates a very welcoming and laid-back atmosphere as he guides you through Boulder, taking the coolest routes. I was nervous about the climbs but JD Joyrides bikes are more than capable in assisting you up those hills. It was a 93F degree day and I barely broke a sweat “climbing” the biggest hill. The bike did ALL the work for me. Joel was fun and informative and took us on safe routes with the assistance of his “Sweep”, Nico. (Dude, I hope I spelled your name correctly, you were a delight!) DO THIS TOUR!! It was the most chill and enjoyable activity that we did during our time in Boulder.

First timers in Colorado! First timers on e-bikes! And our amazing experience with Joel will not be our last! My husband, myself and our 2 teenage daughters loved the entire adventure! Joel was patient and knowledgeable and super kind! He made sure we felt comfortable on the bikes and with bikes prior to our tour! We rode for 3 hours..seeing the main sights of the city as well as getting close to the foothills of mountains! He shared some cultural points, some historical points, some fun facts, and interesting tidbits of Boulder! Joel was an amazing guide very knowledgeable of all sites in Boulder. We rode along Boulder creek and Joel took us to very picturesque sites including through the CU campus. We waited by the creek as kayakers dropped their kayaks into the creek. Joel was kind with our special needs son who needed a bit more care and patience. Highly recommend! We rented ebikes for the day and had a great time! We biked up the bike path at Boulder canyon, across Chapman Drive to Realization Point area, and down Flagstaff Drive. We also went up to Wonderland Lake. The bikes performed well all day and did a great job on hills and trails. Joel provided great recommendations during the ride and for post-ride drinks. We rented e-bikes for a half day and had the best time. We spent the morning on Boulder Canyon trail and riding through campus, and I’m not sure I ever want to go back to riding a bike that makes me do all the work. We had sooo much fun exploring the city and trails. We chose the half day bike rentals ,which meant no tour, which we wanted to do the exploring on our own.
